Phoenix E-Learning Corporation has received a $30 million investment from TAL Education Group. Through the investment TAL Education will hold a 32% equity interest in the company.
Founded in 2003, Phoenix E-Learning operates zxxk.com, an online platform serving the Chinese K-12 sector. The portal is used in over 30,000 public schools totalling more than 15 million registered users.
TAL Education Group, a Chinese K-12 after-school tutoring provider, led a $20 million Series C round in the online science community Guokr. TAL Education led the round, investing $15 million, the remaining $5 million came from existing investors IDG and others.
The Minerva Project, an edtech startup that aims to create a new breed of elite university, announced that it is in the process of raising a $70 million Series B from a Chinese investment consortium led by tutoring service provider TAL Education Group with participation of Yongjin Group and ZhenFund and its existing investor Benchmark Capital.
This round brings the total funding raised to $95 million. Benchmark Capital was the sole investor in Minerva’s $25 million round in April 2012.
