This also means that mobile phones are more and more used to perform different tasks in the field of learning, from sharing questions related to homework to learning a new language.

HelloTalk offers a social app that connects language learners from across the globe. The app features a set of different tools to facilitate exchange within the community, and to help community members to learn a new language.

HEDLINE: Science Community Guokr raises $20 million Series C

TAL Education Group, a Chinese K-12 after-school tutoring provider, led a $20 million Series C round in the online science community Guokr. TAL Education led the round, investing $15 million, the remaining $5 million came from existing investors IDG and others.

HEDLINE: Yik Yak raises $1.5 million Seed Round

The hyper-local messaging app for college students Yik Yak raised a $1.5 million Seed Round from Vaizra Investments, DCM, Azure Capital Partners and several other angels.

The funding comes on the heels of a cyberbullying scandal which made headlines across the USA, but was also handled in a proactive way by the Yik Yak founders.

Function Space

HEDLINE: Function Space raises Seed Round from Nexus Venture Partners

Indian social learning network for science Function Space announced that it has secured an undisclosed amount of Seed Funding from Nexus Venture Partners with Sandeep Singhal, co-founder and MD at Nexus Venture Partners joining the board of function Space as part of the deal.

The funding will be used to both build out the platform itself, mainly functions to ease collaboration, and to attract more experts and contributors as well as to expand its user base in general.
