LearnBoost, the open source learning management system that wants to provide teachers and schools across the world with a free yet powerful administration tool announced that the platform is now available in Spanish.
The translation of LearnBoost has been crowdsourced by teachers who use the service. In order to scale this approach due to the growing number of non-English speaking users, the LearnBoost team built an entire system to make the process easier for the teachers.
With the interface the teachers have gotten more context such as the site/source where the sentence is located. This has helped them to provide better translation. Other means of quality control are a voting system and review by trusted editors.
When new features are being added to LearnBoost, all sentences will be automatically added to the translation interface.
Since the launch of LearnBoost one year ago, the LMS is already in use in 25 different countries. Based on the crowdsourced translation interface thousands of users have already contributed to the translation of LearnBoost in other languages and the team will release more major languages in the weeks ahead.
If you want to learn more about the translation process or participate, you should check out the detailed post on the LearnBoost blog.
