With Teach.com the first nationwide portal and resource site launches that makes it easy for aspiring teachers but also teachers who are working in the profession already to find all information necessary to start off their careers and to get information about career options or possible changes – all 50 States combined on one platform.

Teach.com
Teach.com is a collaboration between 2Tor (@2Tor) and the Rossier School of Education better known as MAT@USC. The domain itself was bought from Xerox – great domain name but Xerox has a reputation of helping other companies to succeed (wink Apple, Microsoft).
Over the past couple of days I had the privilege to talk with both partners to get a feeling for the site itself but also ask my questions about how the partnership came together.
According to my conversation with Dr. Melora Sundt (@MeloraSundt) Rossier School was meeting a challenge in the way that they are one of the 26 institutions who have pledged to meet President Obama’s 100kin10 initiative to train 10.000 STEM teachers in two years and 100.000 STEM teachers in ten years.
The reality though was that they were putting out only 100 teachers per year as a university but the proposal to do that through online courses and instruction raised eyebrows among not so few colleagues in Higher Ed as she states.
The first step was then to catch up with the latest developments in technology and in partnership with 2Tor to come up with a simple interface that leads you through the process of becoming a teaching professional step by step and is also customizable.

When 2Tor gave me a walk over the platform I could see that it combines all elements of asynchronous content. There is classic text but also video content, a blog with events and a section where award winning teachers share the essence of their teaching and why it works successfully with their students.
Being able to go in one place and find the relevant information on how to become a teacher and which career options I have in a particular state, also along with information on salary for instance, for the first time is a great thing for anyone in the field of teaching as until today it presents itself scattered and many information is relatively hard to find, at least it is time consuming.
Teach.com hopes to quickly become the place where (aspiring) teachers go and seek informational as well as inspirational resources.
