Chegg Career Center

HEDLINE: Chegg Career Center to launch later this month

Chegg announced its latest feature called Chegg Career Center, an online resource site for students to plan and build their careers while still being in school or after graduation.

Key Takeaway

According to Chegg less than half of students have used a career center on campus. With its Career Center Chegg aims to create a national online resource that can also be accessed by former students long after they graduated.

Users will be able to explore internships and career options as well as advice from working professionals. In a next step Chegg plans to add a skills marketplace where students can purchase courses that focus on the skills that are required in the knowledge economy.

The Chegg Career Center launch is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27th. The first version will feature basic functionalities like internship and entry-level job search and career exploration pages. In August Chegg plans to add skills navigation and the skills marketplace.

Through the Chegg Career Center, employers will also be able to gain access to Chegg’s pool of recent graduates. These can be filtered by school, major, coursework, completed internships, skills, geography, making the recruiting process more efficient.

The career market is heating up. In February peer learning platform Piazza announced the launch of Piazza careers, giving recruiters access to its database of engineering students. In March Apollo Education launched Balloon, a course aggregator which aims to make recruiting for tech companies more efficient. In April Collegefeed launched Collegefeed for Career Centers which allows colleges and universities to showcase their institution and students to employers with the aim to help students find employment quickly and efficiently.
