Jeff studied physics, computer science and journalism before working as an SAT tutor in New York City. During this work he had the idea for VocabSushi based on the experiences he made with his students. Shira is a former science teacher who quit her job to build up this platform with the help of her brother. She felt that there is an opportunity in this space she did not want to miss. The result is a language learning platform centered around a “book now” feature, a fixed price structure and an in-house developed classroom.

They are what you call Digital Nomads and they bootstrapped their start up while travelling through South America. In the interview they were talking in detail how they were able to build up this community with only $1000 USD and what it is like to be a “Nerdy Nomad”.

This interview truly shows that if you have an idea these days and you really want to bring it to life there is basically no reason why it should not be possible.
